Swedish Massage

Swedish is a brand of massage that can be differentiated by its tell tale uniqities; long flowing strokes and the sometimes quite vigorous pounding or "chopping" of the hands and arms on the body known as tapotement.

Sports Massage

The main purpose of sports massage therapy is to help alleviate and eliminate the stress, tension and acid wastes which build up in the body’s soft tissues during physical activity. For serious athletes pre and post event massage can help improve performance and bounce-back time. And even weekend warriors can benefit from the stretching and tension release of this type of massage.

Neuromuscular Massage

The American Academy of Pain Management recognizes this form of massage therapy as an effective treatment for back pain caused by soft tissue injury (such as a muscle strain). Using a series of deep stripping techniques, objective assessments, and spot-point pressure, years of soft tissue trauma (often not recognized as injury by the client) can be well on it's way to full release.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep down, that's where the tension really holds on...and lets go. Sometimes deep tissue massage can be a bit painful, but I like to let each individual decide their own boundaries and not push too far. After all, every body is different and we all have personal tolerances and preferences.

Hot Stone Massage

Deep heat and deep tissue massage make for an amazing therapeutic experience. This hot stone massage may be different than those you have experienced or heard about others recieving at day spas, etc.. The key word here is therapy. That is, I use the stones to administer a deep tissue massage which can have compounded therapeutic effects. But don't think that therapy can't feel like heaven!

Reiki

Reiki is a healing technique that originated in Tibet and has been adapted by the Japanese and is really still evolving. This form of energy healing has been practiced for over 2,500 years.

It means "Universal Life Force Energy". It is one of the more widely known forms of healing through direct application of Chi, or a force very similar to Chi by way of light, relaxing touch, and even no contact energy balancing.

It may not seem it, but this therapy can be a powerful impetus for affecting change. It can also be a pleasant adjunct therapy that really gets to the core of the matter; emotion, which plays such a huge role in in the health of our physical beings. Just ask anybody that may have had Reiki done on them in the hospital! ((http://www.mamashealth.com/massage/reiki.asp))

Even those skeptical of "energy work" and those whom may have never heard the term, or that of Reiki, can be surprised by the deeply calming and unique experience that a healing session can be. I was one of those people. Once I laid down, and opened my mind and body to the magic that was taking place though, I was an instant believer.
